In 1958, Fernandes Lumber Co., opened with one small building that was formerly a fruit stand in Easton. It was started by Manuel Fernandes and his wife Minnie. He gave up a profitable building career which included new homes as well as most of the Mobil service stations throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod. "It was a struggle at first and a lot of hard work. You had to put your heart and soul into it and we did. All my children worked here, especially on Saturdays."

For example, during the day Manuel would work at the store and at night would go to the docks to pick up lumber. Over the years he would add a building when he was able to afford it.

Today, the heart and soul that started this business is still involved. Manuel’s daughter, Diana, handles the accounts. Manuel’s son Kenneth and son in law Thomas Farrell serve as co-managers/owners.

In 2004, a major building project had begun. The original building had become too small to serve its customer base and more space was needed. After many alternatives were reviewed a 2 phase building project began in May 2005. Phase 1 was built next to the existing building while Fernandes Lumber stayed in operation in its original building. In July 2005, we moved into Phase 1 while the deconstruction and building of Phase 2 began. In November 2005, the store was completed and fully open for business.

Fernandes Lumber is the only full service home center supplying the town of Easton. We pride ourselves on service and knowledge to get you through the most difficult project. Our sales force offers friendly and courteous service to each and every customer.

We recently celebrated our 50th anniversary and look forward to serving the community for many more years.
